skewness

Definition

In statistics, skewness indicates the asymmetry of (frequency) distributions. The measure of skewness is sometimes called the third moment and will take on a value of zero when the distribution is a completely symmetric bell-shape curve. A positive value indicates that the cases are clustered more to the left of the mean with most of the extreme values to the right. A negative value indicates clustering to the right.
