CRITICAL THERMAL MAXIMUM (CTM)

Definition

The temperature at which locomotor activity becomes disorganized and an organism loses its ability to escape conditions which will quickly lead to its death. The CTM is determined by heating from acclimation temperature, at a constant rate that is fast enough to allow the deep body temperature to follow without significant time lag.
