GLYCOLYSIS

Definition

A universal cytoplasmic biochemical pathway. Glycolysis is a sequence of reactions (mediated by a complex of enzymes and co-enzymes ) that converts glucose into pyruvate with the concomitant production of ATP. The product of glycolysis is pyruvic acid which is required to initiate the Krebs cycle.
