ORGANIC ENRICHMENT

Definition

The process of increasing or enhancing some constituent or property, particularly through the addition of certain materials. In aquaculture there are two main usages: (a) the addition of necessary vitamins and minerals to formulated fish diets, to replace those nutrients that may be lost in fishmeal processing and milling and (b) organic or nutrient enrichment, referring to the discharges of organic nutrients to water bodies from aquaculture units.
