CALIGUS FLEXISPINA

Definition

A caligid parasitic copepod originally occurring in Asia and historically restricted to the northern hemisphere in the Pacific, now occurring on salmon farms in Chile where it causes severe damage. May have been transmitted to the southern hemisphere by ballast water of bulk carriers. For life stages, see C. elongatus.
