INBREEDING (CO-EFFICIENT/DEPRESSION)

Definition

(1) Coefficent: The probability that two genes (alleles) at a locus are identical in descent. The correlation of genes within individuals or the correlation of genes within individuals within populations, Hardy-Weinberg proportions; positive values indicate a deficiency of heterozygotes while negative values indicate an excess of heterozygotes. (2) Depression: a reduction in fitness or vigour due to inbreeding.
