Emphysematous putrefactive disease of catfish:A subacute systemic bacterial disease of yearling channel catfish caused by Edwardsiella tarda. The disease occurs when water temperatures exceed 300C and mortalities in ponds seldom exceed 5%. Higher mortalities occur in fish cultured at high densities. Systemic antibacterials effectively prevent the disease.
