Definition

A measure of the degree to which a compound (commonly a xenobiotic), present in an aquatic environment, is accumulated in the biomass of organisms (e.g. algae) living in that environment. BCF = Co/Cw where Co = concentration of the compound in the organisms, and Cw is the concentration of the compound in the water.
