AMMONIA TOXICITY

Definition

Ammonia is toxic to aquatic organisms at certain concentrations. Toxicity depends on its ionic dissociation which is influenced by parameters such as pH, temperature, salinity, suspended solids and carbon dioxide. It is one of the most important water quality parameters for fish. The level at which ammonia is considered toxic varies for different fish species.
