ANTIBIOTIC SENSITIVITY TEST

Definition

Laboratory test carried out to determine the susceptibility of a pathogen to a range of antibiotics. The results of such tests are used to select optimally active chemotherapeutic agents and may be useful in identifying the pathogen; cf. antifungal agents, antiprotozoal agents, antiseptics and disinfectants.
